Research Overview

My lab conducts the interdisplinary research about enzymology and synthetic biology. With advances of genome sequencing techniques, the genetic information of nature product biosynthesis could be identified and further studied. Due to molecular complexity of nature products, many novel enzymes catalyzes these chemical transformation. We are interested in investigating their enzymatic mechanism and understanding their biochemical information. By accumulating these knowledge, we aim toward engineering enzymes as biocatalysts to generate product analogues.

Moreover, my lab is also interested in using microbes to produce chemicals, especially biofuels. Due to limited fossil fuels and global environmental problems, we need to find a sustainable approach to make products from renewable resources such as biomass. By studying enzymology, the knowledge could be applied in product generation along with controlling microbial metabollic pathways.
